Jihadism

The term Jihad in Arabic literally means “effort”. In the Islamic interpretation, these words are intended to signify the effort and the inner struggle which needs to be carried out in order to arrive at faith and to complete an operation capable of reaching true maturity of faith. Today however, from the point of view of the media, predominantly in the West jihan has come to be known as a struggle to be carried out against infidels. For this motive, the Islamic terrorist groups have come to define jihadists. Therefore with jihad they want to above all else for the “holy war” to be professed and proclaimed by international radical groups, who have been the protagonists for the rise of Islamic terrorism from the 1990s onwards.
