Isis (Islamic State)

Isis is an Islamic terrorist organisation born in 2014, on the ashes of the “old” Al Qaeda’s branch in Iraq. It is active in Middle East as well as, with its many ramifications, in Europe, Africa, Russia and United States. It was the responsible, during the years, of numerous terrorist attacks and it became sadly renown when, in July 2014, its leader, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, proclaimed the birth of the Islamic Caliphate. Unlike Al Qaeda, for three years it had its own territory, where it tried to create a proper state, between Syria and Iraq. In those same years Isis was the main protagonist of several attacks: Paris 2015, Bruxelles 2016, and it also spread terror through Tunisia, Spin, France and Great Britain. As of today Al Baghdadi is still regarded as the leader of the organisation. Even though Isis lost its Caliphate, it still has branches in Middle East and Europe.
