While the world is facing the Covid-19 emergency, in Chernobyl exclusion zone on 4 April an arson fire is spreading fast becoming one of the biggest ever. More than 400 firefighters struggled for 10 days to tame the flames by working under extreme conditions, often without adequate protection. constantly inhaling, radioactive particles. The fire destroyed forever many cultural and tourist sites in the area such as the Emerald summer camp, giving a serious blow to tourism in this area, already severely tested by the restrictions imposed by Covid-19. The fire touched the nuclear power plant and the nearby radioactive waste disposal site. If it got there, there'd be another Chernobyl.
